Absence of Nocturnal dipping and higher systolic blood pressure during night time are associated with target organ damage.
High sodium intake also measured by Sodium excretion, significantly impacts the night time Blood Pressure and is seen as reduced Nocturnal dipping and higher systolic blood pressure on Ambulatory Blood pressure Monitoring.

Hence it is highly important to take efforts to reduce the overall sodium consumption in Hypertensive patients and in those that are at a risk of developing Hypertension.
Patients should also be advised to refrain from holding urine urges during daytime due to work or social hinderances, as this will also in turn increase the night time blood pressure, according to findings of the above study.

From a doctors point of view following should be the key for reversal
- Give hopes of reversal to the patient while enrollment
- Start monitoring patients BP on a digital monitor every morning before breakfast and before blood pressure medicines and ask him to record it on Pulse app.
- Monitor patients weight every third day and ask him to record it on pulse app.
- Taper antihypertensive medicines as per protocol judiciously.
